The mineral waters of Manitou Springs has played a major role in relieving my chronic pain, joint inflammation and muscle stiffness. I have made regular visits to these nurturing waters for the past eight years.
My symptoms include inflammation and stiffness in my wrists, fingers and ankles. This pain affects my activities of daily living and limits my physical abilities.
I also experience episodes of chronic pain and weakness especially with morning aches throughout my body, weakness in the extremities and muscle fatigue-exhaustion.
Soaking in the warm mineral rich waters of Manitou Springs has definitely given me amazing results in reducing these symptoms in both the short and long term. After I leave the pool, my body is warm and my muscles are relaxed. The feeling of inflammation and stiffness in my joints is relieved.
For me, I get the best results from soaking in the waters over a two-day period. I will usually soak for two hours at a time in the morning, afternoon and right before bed. I do not shower after being in the waters. I prefer to have the minerals dry on my skin which maximizes the spa treatment atmosphere of this resort.
The weightlessness and warmth of the water promotes my whole body to relax, calms my mind, and allows for a state of mindfulness to exist.
All of these benefits have truly improved my overall health in so many ways. I always look forward to my next therapeutic soak in these warm, golden, mineral rich waters.

At 91 years of age, what keeps me mobile is going in the water. It helps with my arthritis and any other aches and pains, and also relaxes my muscles. Everyone in the Spa asks why I don’t look my age, I tell them I’m well preserved from the water which makes me keep well. I have been going in this water all my life, I’ve never had any major ailments and very rarely ever get sick.

Hi my name is Annette Byrde and I was visiting family in the Manitou area last year. I have suffered from Arthritis in my knees and lower back along with bone spurs in my heels , knees and lower back. We came to the Spa on many occasions on my visit and it was the most relaxing time I have ever spent in a pool surrounding, the heat and water seemed to seep into my bones and took away the everyday ache. When I arrived after the lengthy plane ride, I was in extreme pain with no relief until my visits to the Spa. As we toured the area, I was able to be more active and was even able to climb to the top of the Athabasca Ice Glacier. This was a huge accomplishment for me, as I was previously not able to walk for any extended period of time.

The healing waters of Little Manitou Lake certainly helped me after hip replacement surgeries. Six years ago, I had the first surgery and then a year later the other was “done”. Always an active person I wanted to get my life back to normal again – so I dutifully followed the physiotherapists instructions and was discharged but my weakened hips, back & legs all needed to be stronger. The gym was too physically difficult but I discovered an exercising class called aquasize at Manitou Springs Mineral Spa and that was wonderful rehab. To do leg and arm exercises in the wonderfully buoyant yet resistant heated water was just what I needed to be doing. Over time, strength and flexibility returned to my new joints and I was able to graduate to the more strenuous gym workout for more strengthening.
I am absolutely certain that my recovery was aided immensely by exercising in the healing waters of Manitou Springs heated healing waters.
